Tests in Reading, Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Information Sources yield reliable and comprehensive information both about the development of students' skills and about their ability to think critically.

It is very important to us at The Meridian School to have an independent body assess each of our students. These tests allow students to be compared with other students and schools to be compared with other schools. Such comparisons give educators the opportunity to look at the achievement levels of students in relation to an internationally representative student group.

Thus, our teachers and administrators get an "external" look at the performance of our students, one that is independent of the school's own assessments of student learning. As long as our population continues to be highly diverse and students compete internationally rather than locally for educational opportunities, student and school comparisons with an international norm group will be of utmost interest and importance to our school community.
